Our presenter, Debbie Schnur, is the Environmental Education Coordinator for the University of California Cooperative Extension of San Bernardino County. She brings her expertise as a Master Gardener and Master Food Preserver to promote environmental awareness and stewardship through community education. With a background in engineering and public health, Debbie moved from Minnesota to California in 2019 to serve with FoodCorps at Phelan Elementary School, where she restored the school garden and taught students about growing and eating healthy food. Since then, she has worked as an educator for the Riverside County Department of Public Health and the Upland Unified School District Farm to School Program. As a proud member of the Root 66 Community Garden in Rancho Cucamonga, Debbie hones her gardening skills by cultivating an everchanging variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and native plants.
